    Comparing Datasets

    Creating comparisons

The DTV platform allows users to compare datasets side-by-side on the map. This allows users to see changes over time or compare activity in a particular location.

    1. Use View Catalogue to select the data you would like to compare and select the sign to add the data to the workbench:

    1. Click the Compare button in the 3-dot menu of a dataset you want to compare.

    1. This will split the screen in two. Determine what datasets you would like on the left and right and set them accordingly in the workbench.

    2. Move the compare slider (the three parallel lines button in the middle of the screen) to visualise and compare the datasets side by side.

In this example there are two data sets for Melbourne are selected and added to the workbench, Fishermans Bend 3D textured buildings on the left and Metro Block buildings (City of Melbourne surrounds) on the right.

    Additional Compare Data features

Some data sets contain the same data captured over a range of years. These data sets allow for additional comparison between features in the workbench. In this example the one data set DEA Land Cover has been selected and compared between two different years.

Differences in the data of an area over time can be viewed using the time scale in the workbench data panel. Select the forward or back arrows to change the displayed data year.
